On Air Post-Mortem
I had another bout of writer’s block, and I just couldn’t seem to write more than a few paragraphs of anything. It was frustrating and I finally got something out which is great.
I sorta latched onto this idea after seeing it in a homestuck general on 4chan and it just kept going. I think that I used too many pronouns and I definitely have some issues to work out with Vriska’s characterization as well as general word choice.
EDIT: Also, my sentence structure is shot to shit.

Dumb shit coworkers say
I recently was listening to a conversation between a manager and another coworker of mine, here’s how it went.
“I need you to take out the trash” (Manager black, female)
“No, I will not, make Earnest(Employee black, male) do it.” (Emplyoee black, female)
“Why not?”(manager)
“Because taking out the trash is a job for a man.”(employee female)
“What? I take out the trash all the time” (employee black female (Vicky))
“And so do I, this is McDonalds honey everyone takes out the trash.” (manager)
Why do conversations like this need to happen? Why couldn’t she just keep her mouth shut and take out the damn trash?

The Mood Post-Mortem
This is the culmination of a few ideas that were bouncing around my fanfic folder but I didn’t think had enough there for a fanfic or thought that this would be a better work to put these ideas into. I wanted to do something featuring a troll, because I felt I was getting into a rut (originally the terezi solo). Some people responded positively to The Party, and I wanted to work more with Roxy’s character, which I felt wasn’t really explored enough mentally in the story (originally, this was going to be a more somber work, dealing with Roxy going to rehab and meeting Gamzee, and dealing with their combined guilt, eventually falling in love). Along with this, coming off of I’m Sorry left me with a want to do a more plot-oriented work (not on the scale of Singlemomstuck, though, that was stupid).
I think it’s okay, I guess. I wrote it over the course of a week. Finding Roxy’s voice was difficult, and I’m not entirely sure I got it right. Writing for Gamzee was another challenge, because I wanted to make his mental condition more apparent through his speech than through his appearance or actions.

General writing tips?
Grammar is god. Check and double check your story for mistakes, especially during important events, where a mistake can ruin any emotional impact that you were building.
Natural sounding dialog has pauses, hemming and hawwing as characters search for the right word.
When creating a character, it sometimes helps to (pre)write solely about them in order to hash out their personality. Going in depth and spending time answering minute questions that come to mind is what changes an archetype to a fully fledged character.

As much as it pained me to write it, leaving the story unfinished would make me feel even worse (especially because i had a perfectly happy set up going before I ran out of ideas). I also wanted to challenge myself (which is why I started writing fapfiction in the first place), so being that far out of my comfort zone was expected (i guess?).
And yes, it was a request from an anon on HSG who would not stop talking about it while I was writing it. His exact request was just a fapfiction that featured all the girls, which was why the post-mortem talks a bit about how Dirk ruins a humans-only fapfic because Roxy gets left out.
